Hi,
I have a Cricut Expression and when I got my SCAL I had to update my firmware as well.. I did not have a problem updating to the correct firmware and then cutting with SCAL. I’m not sure what the problem could be. Maybe try updating again? Or asking the question on the SCAL website. Sorry I can’t be of more help with this. Thank you for the comment.
